The Benefits of Football for Kids
There are so many sports out there that your kids will definitely benefit from. And one of these sports we’re going to talk about is Football. Often the choice to make a good decision on which sport to choose for your children can be difficult, however, remember that the most important thing is that your kids will be active and enjoy the sport as this will have a lasting impact on their development. Let’s have a discussion on the benefits of football and all the advantages your kid can gain from playing soccer.
Why do Kids Need Sport?
We can all agree that sports and exercises are an important part of a child’s development and growth. The benefits of playing sports, especially football are both physical and mental. Every child needs exercise. However, not every one of them is getting the right exercise and what they really need to develop fully in the current cultural and healthy environment and climate.
Physical activity is even more important in the early years as it will set up a foundation for your child’s development. It will also contribute to their life experience shaping the future.
So Why Football?
It is our job to make sure kids are allowed and getting the right growth of their potential and experiencing new challenges in order to contribute to their development. This is why enrolling your child in our soccer programs for youth is so important. But why football? What are the main benefits of football?
Of course, all sports have their own advantages and will give your children different skills. But, the truth is that football is one of the best sports when it comes to important parts such as:
- physical literacy,
- social development,
- cognitive development.
On top of being the most popular sport in the world, football is also a useful advantage in social life. Including new friendships, participation in social events and activities.
Developing Physical Literacy Through Football
Developing fundamental physical skills is what describes the best physical literacy in children. Basic skills like jumping, running, throwing, catching and kicking fit in the broader categories of agility, coordination, balance and movement and speed.
Running and Jumping
It is no secret that football has a lot of running, but remember that is not just “running”, it has all types as well. Endurance running for long periods of time, sprinting, quick changes of movements and speed and anything you could think of football has it. The short interval sprinting with recovery is exactly what children need in order to develop their speed and endurance.
Overall fitness and running for soccer players are taken very seriously at Black Eagles as our training sessions are designed to constantly engage them in varying activities and helping youth players improve soccer skills.
Jumping, dodging and hopping
Though it doesn’t seem like there is much jumping, besides the time when the player is jumping for the headers and jumping in goal, a player spends a lot of time with both feet in the air.
- Sliding into tackles,
- Stepping to track attackers,
- Jumping into position,
- Jumping to avoid players,
- Dodging defenders…
All of these movements will develop a kid’s physical development without even realizing it.
Kicking is the best part when it comes to football. Learning to control all areas of your feet and generating strength in legs and feet and also gaining superior control can be remarkable at of course. Kicking is a full-body movement, where the player will benefit from core strength and stability. The mobility, agility and speed of movement required to kick a football become a physical life skill.
